Fonds consists of records created or received by Thomas Darling. Records include business records and correspondence, papers relating to land transactions with the township of Front of Leeds and Lansdowne, personal and family papers, and a history of the township. Significant subjects include the refueling of lake steamers owned in Montreal and Kingston.

Thomas Darling (fl. 1837) was a Scottish immigrant to Canada in 1837 and became the owner of a wharf and store at Rockport, Ontario.
