Fonds consists of the professional journal of John G. Howard. Journal entries relate to: daily activities; meetings with clients, commissioners, City Hall officials, and Board of Works officials; Howard’s work on various projects, such as houses, house additions, an asylum, a reservoir, roads, and other sites; evidence given regarding the Welland Canal; church visits; some leisure activities, such as riding and hunting; and other activities. Journal also contains accounts of various clients, receipts, and lists of bills to pay. Margins of journal contain notes on money paid to and received by various individuals.
John G. Howard (1803-1890) was a prominent Toronto surveyor, engineer, and architect during the nineteenth century.
