Scope and Content

Fonds consist of textual records created and received by Local 584 of the United Auto Workers union.

Fonds includes minutes of Executive Committee meetings as well as of general membership meetings; correspondence between the Local and the Head Office of the Canadian Section of the United Auto Workers, the Canadian Labour Congress, political parties and other unions; financial and accounting records, including bank statements, payroll records, expense vouchers and membership dues; various membership lists, and strike records.

Local 584 of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) was chartered on May 31, 1944 for workers at Ford's Queensway Assembly operation in Toronto.
