Scope and Content

Fonds consists of photocopies of typescript extracts from the diary of Sarah Drinkwater. Diary entries relate to: household items and chores; winter travel difficulties and dangers; Christmas celebrations; social visits; children, with many references to a baby; Sarah Drinkwater’s trips to Penetang to visit her parents, as well as a visit to Toronto to see her father when he moved there after her mother’s death; and local news, such as birth, deaths, and marriages.

Administrative History or Biographical Sketch

Sarah Hallen Drinkwater (fl. 1840-1879) immigrated to Upper Canada and lived in the Orillia area with her husband and family.
