Fonds consists of glass plate and black and white photographic negatives depicting the activities of Lieutenant-Governor William Donald Ross.
Photographs show Ross and his wife attending special events, official openings, and ceremonies, as well as entertaining dignitaries at Government House, Chorley Park. Individuals identified in the photos include Ontario Premiers E.C. Drury, G. Howard Ferguson, Canadian Prime Ministers William Lyon MacKenzie King and R.B. Bennett, and Governor- General Willingdon, as well as Sir Winston Churchill.
Fonds has been arranged into two series based on photographic format: glass plate negatives and black and white negatives.
The Alexandra Studios was a Toronto, Ontario-based photographic studio.

Fonds was donated to the Archives of Ontario in 1966 by Roy Mitchell of Toronto's Alexandra Studio.

Title based on contents of fonds
The photographs were removed from the remainder of the Alexandra Studios fonds, which is further divided between the National Archives of Canada and the City of Toronto Archives.
