Files consist of oral history records documenting the life and career of Samuel Hughes (b. 1913), a historian and lawyer who was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1958. Interview topics include: University of Toronto; Oxford University; articling; Osgoode Hall Law School; World War II; early practice; Chairman, Ontario Highway Transport Board; Justice, High Court, Supreme Court of Ontario; Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Canada; select cases; Supernumerary Judge, 1978.
