File consists of oral history records documenting the life and career of Kent Kirkland (b. 1941), a lawyer and judge. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1968 and specialized in family law. He was later appointed to the Family Court Bench in 1979. Interview topics include: University of Western Ontario, 1960-1963; U.W.O. Law School, 1963-1966; early litigation work; effect of 1968 Divorce Act; appointment to Court Bench, 1979; move to criminal cases; child protection cases; Family Court Judges Association; and Youth Court, among others. File consists of five audio cassette recordings and a transcript with index (157 p.).
