Scope and Content

File consists of oral history records documenting the life and career of Samuel Grange (b. 1928), a lawyer who served as a partner at the firm of Heighington, Symons & Grange from 1948 to 1961, and then at McMillan, Binch and Stewart. He was later appointed to the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1974 and to the Ontario Court of Appeal in 1982. Interview topics include: Legal Aid; family background and history; World War II; Osgoode Hall; select cases; Law Society of Upper Canada; Ministry Committee on Franchising; women lawyers and minorities; royal commissions; Mississauga Train Derailment Inquiry; and Sick Children’s’ Hospital Inquiry, among others. File consists of seven audio cassette recordings and a transcript with index (223 p.).
