Scope and Content

File consists of oral history records documenting the life and career of Gretta Grant (b. 1921), a lawyer who was the first Chinese woman in Canada to be called to the bar and who formerly served as Legal Aid Director in London, Ontario. Interview topics include: University of Western Ontario; Osgoode Hall; articling; discrimination in Toronto; call to the bar; Assistant City Solicitor, London; Legal Aid, Area Director, London, Stratford, and Woodstock, 1967; Middlesex Bar Association, first woman president. Interview conducted by Christine J.N. Kates. File includes three audio cassette recordings, a transcript with index (120 p.), and a copy one item of correspondence outlining how the oral history would be preserved and accessed through the Osgoode Society Oral History Programme.
