Scope and Content

Series consists of Half-Yearly Returns and Annual Reports submitted by Trustees of Grammar Schools on forms supplied by the Education Office.

The Half-Yearly Returns are records of attendance and list the names of pupils, the number of days each was present and are signed by the Headmasters and the Trustees.

Annual reports are comprised of financial statements signed by the school auditors together with general statistical returns listing the number of pupils in each subject, the names of text-books used, particulars regarding teachers' qualifications and information concerning the accommodation, condition and structure of school buildings. The Annual Reports were signed by the Trustees and the school secretary.

The returns and reports are arranged alphabetically by school, then chronologically.

Original records are closed for conservation reasons. There are no restrictions on access to the microfilmed copies.
