Scope and Content 

 

Fonds consists of records created by the Boys' Home of Toronto while carrying out their mission of helping destitute and neglected boys of Toronto and across Toronto. The Boys' Home of Toronto fonds is comprised of minute books of weekly meetings, minute books of special and monthly meetings, annual reports, outgoing correspondence, building and property files, and incoming correspondence from past residents. The fonds also contains a file of programs from annual meetings, and miscellaneous notes and pamphlets.

 

Administrative History or Biographical Sketch 

 

The Boys' Home of Toronto is a child care agency for young offenders and emotionally disturbed youths. The Home was established in 1859 by concerned citizens as a haven for the city's destitute and neglected boys.

Immediate Source of Acquisition 

 

The fonds was acquired from the Archives of Ontario in 1984 from Toronto Boy's Home. An accural of records relating to the Toronto Boys' Home, was donated by Uri Igra, the Executive Director of Turning Point Youth Services in July 2002.
