Fonds consists of records documenting the personal and official activities of Alexander Hamilton in the Niagara District in the early nineteenth century. Series include the following: Alexander Hamilton letterbook 1809-1838; Alexander Hamilton personal papers 1819-1838; papers of A. Hamilton as Postmaster at Queenston 1820-1839; papers of A. Hamilton as Sheriff of the Niagara District, 1833-1839; papers of other Hamilton family members 1818-1886; legal writs from the Wentworth County Sheriff's office; Hamilton family photographs; and typescript extracts from the John Askin papers and the Simcoe papers concerning the Hamilton family.
