Scope and Content

Fonds consists of originals and copies of the personal and professional records of Colonel F.H. Deacon. Personal records include biographical material, personal correspondence as well as a diary of the Deacon's honeymoon trip to New Brunswick in 1905.

Also included are business records from F.H. Deacon and Company such as correspondence, financial statements, insurance agreements, daybooks, cashbooks, and ledgers.

In addition, fonds contains 27 photographs. Subjects are: Colonel Deacon; Ethel Emmerson Deacon; John S. Deacon; Donald Mackay Deacon; as well as F.H. Deacon and Company and C.J. Hodgson and Company office functions.

Administrative History or Biographical Sketch

Colonel Frederick Herbert Deacon (1874-1948) was the founder of the Toronto brokerage firm, F.H. Deacon and Company in the early twentieth century.
