Scope and Content

Sub-series consists of a single volume created by staff of the Ontario Reformatory for Boys documenting the personal and biographical history of inmates in the reformatory.

The histories include the following information about each boy: the crime or offence committed, type and duration of their sentence, and name of the judge who passed sentence; physical characteristics such as build, complexion, identifying marks and/or scars, height, and weight; biographical information such as the names of their parents, and their places of birth and residence.

Histories also include details about their personal history including personal habits (whether they drank or smoked), their place of employment, the names of their companions, the last time they attended school, and whether or not they had been arrested previously.

The histories are arranged chronologically.
