Ontario Government Record Sub-Series RG 8-51-7
11 volumes of textual records (includes photographs)
RG 8-51 Victoria Industrial School records
Sub-series consists of 11 volumes created by staff of the Victoria Industrial School pertaining to inmates of the school.
The first two volumes contain the following personal information about each boy: date, case number, name, age, residence, height, complexion, eye colour, occupation, birthplace, religion, nationality, and parents' names, residence, and occupations. The volumes also include remarks by staff, often following the boys' discharge from the school, reflecting on their progress.
The remaining volumes contain the same information as listed above as well as additional information about the boys' educational levels, personal antecedents, and the dates of their commitment and parole. Some of the later books also contain photographs of each inmate.
Volumes are arranged by case number with an index at the front. The case numbers in this series are the same as those in Sub- series RG 8-51-8 (Case files of the Victoria Industrial School).
Access restrictions on RG 8-51-7-1 (Case Book, 1887-1895) and RG 8-51-7-2 (Case Book, 1896-1905) have expired and these volumes are available on self service microfilm reels MS 7589 and MS 7683 respectively.
