Series consists of registers of all applications made for grants of probate or administration to the Surrogate Court in Grey County. Any disputes arising from the application or associated documents was noted in these books.

An instance of the kind of dispute noted is as the result of a caveat. (A caveat was used by a person having a claim on an estate. The claimant files a notice of warning with the Surrogate Court in order to prevent any grant being made without reference to the claimant.)

The early volumes for this county were likely destroyed by court order in 1955.
