Fonds consists of the records the Rousseau family, predominantly Jean Baptiste Rousseau and his son, Joseph Brant Rousseau. Fonds includes a family account book, as well as personal, legal and business correspondence, Also included is genealogical material relating to the Rousseau family as well as related correspondence created and compiled by Percy I. Robinson and Mrs. Muriel Hooper. Fonds also contains a memorandum book kept by family members as well as 4 family photographs.

Jean Baptiste Rousseau (1758-1812) was an early merchant and mill owner in Ancaster, York and Kingston, Ontario, and died while serving in the War of 1812.
