Scope and Content

Fonds consists of the office records of lawyer Joseph Sedgwick. Fonds includes correspondence, subject files, litigation files and estate files. The main case represented in the files is the Bank Romande. Other cases represented include: the Conn Smythe and Harold Ballard tax evasion cases; the Gouzenko v. Macleans libel case; Roman v. Trudeau and Green; the Department of Justice re: RCMP drowning; the Dionne Quintuplets guardianship; and the IWA strike in Newfoundland.

Administrative History or Biographical Sketch

Joseph Sedgwick (1898-1981) was a Toronto civil litigation lawyer who served as a solicitor in the Ontario Department of the Attorney General between 1929 and 1937.
