Fonds consists of photographs of Canadian Car and Foundry facilities in Fort William, Brantford, and Welland, Ontario. These records were created at the direction of the company's head office in Montreal, Ontario. The images document the fabrication of cast metal work, railway rolling stock, and World War II aircraft. Images also show the construction and finished interiors and exteriors of many foundry buildings, as well as close-ups and overviews of male and female staff operating machinery and welding. Included is a small amount of textual material and a technical drawing.
This fonds has been arranged into six series.
The Canadian Car and Foundry Company Limited of Montreal, Quebec, manufactured railway and urban transportation rolling stock, ships, and aeroplanes.

The Archives of Ontario acquired the material in 1983 from a private donor.
