Scope and Content

Fonds consists of records created, received and/or accumualted by the Ontario Engineering Heritage Records Foundation and its predecessor, the Canadian Heritage Record Committee of the Engineering Institute of Canada.

Included are minutes and reports commissioned by the O.E.H.R.F. and the Canadian Engineering Heritage Records Committee of the E.I.C., 1977-1981 as well as material collected by the O.E.H.R.F. in its efforts to preserve engineering history. This historical material includes: publications relating to the history of engineering in Canada, 1897-1980; as well as records of the Magison and Babcock Company, 1930- 1931; the Foundation Company of Canada, 1965; and the U.S. Board of Engineers, 1899-1900.

Administrative History or Biographical Sketch

The Ontario Engineering Heritage Records Foundation was established in 1980 to preserve the history of engineering in Ontario, by preserving the working records, personal papers, biographies, reports and publications relevant to the profession.

Custodial History

Fonds was acquired by the Archives of Ontario in 1980 and 1984 from the Ontario Engineering Heritage Records Foundation. These records had been transferred to the O.E.H.R.F. in 1979 by the defunct Canadian Heritage Record Committee of the Engineering Institute of Canada.

Title based on contents of the fonds.

This fonds initially included the records of several individuals and organisations. These records have since been arranged into separate fonds: F 2077, James Franklin Barber fonds; F 2078, C.A. Dunham Company fonds; F 2079, Engineering Institute of Canada (Toronto Branch) fonds; F 2080, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers fonds; F 2082, Robert M.P.
