Fonds consists of business records of James Rowe & Co., including correspondence relating to business operations, receipts given by the company at the time goods were deposited, orders (often accompanied by receipts), delivery statements giving an inventory of goods delivered by various Great Lakes vessels to James Rowe & Co. (often including the name of the vessel and its captain), and freight advice notices announcing delivery of goods at the Whitby Station by rail.
