Ontario Government Record Series RG 11-23
1.5 metres of textual records
Series consists of applications completed by immigrants who had resided in Ontario for three months and were eligible for a refund bonus of six dollars per adult, because they had not received a refund bonus certificates at the point of embarkation. In many cases the individuals had entered the province via U.S. border points after arriving at an American port.
The applications can include correspondence between the Department and the emigrant, certificates of passage and disembarkation and certificates of character and residency. These documents generally record the names, occupation, date of arrival and related data on the individual immigrants.
The material is filed alphabetically by the name of the emigrant.
