RG 1-159 Fiats for land grants - military
Sub-series contains a register to "Fiats to reduced officers and disbanded soldiers since 1814" and covers fiat A (1817) to fiat A52 (1838). Entries record: the Surveyor General's Office fiat number; the Executive Council Office number; the Receiver General's Office number; the Attorney General's Office number; the name, occupation, military rank and regiment, and place of residence (township, concession, lot) of the grantee; by whom lodged; the location of the grant (township, concession and lot); the authority under which the grant was made; the acreage granted; and a description number. Some entries are annotated with information concerning the issuance of scrip certificates and location tickets, extensions of time for the performance of settlement duties, and other land-related matters. An alphabetical index to grantees is contained within the volume.
