Series consists of registers, also known as probate and administration books, which contain the Huron County Surrogate Court's copy of all grants of probate (in estates with wills) and administration (estates without wills). Until 1892, these volumes also contain grants of guardianship.

An online finding aid, giving the grant numbers and year range in each volume, is available for this series. There is also a microfilm reel listing in the User's Guide to Surrogate Court Microfilm. For an index to the Registers, use the indexes to the Huron County Surrogate Court on self-serve microfilm GS 2, reel 60. Until 1887, these indexes do not contain direct references to entries in the Registers but, by using the the grant number and year given in the index, you can locate the corresponding entry in the Registers. From 1887, the general index on microfilm gives direct references to each entry in the Registers.
