Ontario Government Record Series RG 22-224
125 volumes of textual records
Series consists of registers, also known as probate and administration books, containing the court's copy of all grants of probate (in estates with wills) and administration (estates without wills) issued by the Surrogate Court for the Dalhousie District (1842-1849) and the County of Carleton (1850-). Prior to 1858, there appears to have been no standard format established for the Registers. As a result, the contents and organisation of the Registers for the early Surrogate Courts can vary. After 1858, a standard format was laid down.
Each volume in this series is individually indexed.
