Ontario Government Record Series RG 22-211
7.5 metres of textual records
36 volumes of textual records
Series consists of registers, also known as probate and administration books, which contain the Waterloo County Surrogate Court's copy of all grants of probate (in estates with wills) and administration (estates without wills) issued by the court. Before 1892, they also contain grants of guardianship.
Prior to 1858, there appears to have been no standard format established for the registers. As a result, the contents and organisation of the registers for the early Surrogate Courts can vary. After 1858, a standard format was laid down.
